The UK aftermarket sector has a new event on its calendar this year and we’re delighted to confirm that Carvue will be part of the action!

The well-known and highly reputable Automechanika event comes to the UK for the first time and the expo at the NEC will be the biggest one of its kind outside Frankfurt, having sold out of space 5 months before launch and already expanded from one hall to three at the NEC in Birmingham.

Taking place at the NEC from 7 – 9 June 2016, Automechanika Birmingham, in association with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), is already attracting some of the big players in our market as well as a host of smaller and specialist companies like us. The event provides garage owners as well as others who work in the sector with the opportunity to meet suppliers and gain a wider understanding of the products available which can help your business move forward.

And the choice is massive, there’s more than 550 UK and international exhibitors attending so you’ll be able to find the service or product your business needs!

At our stand (11H12) you will be able to see the app and meet some of the people behind CarVue, from sales team to support staff to trainers to company directors. As a company we think it’s important for each and every one of us to know who our customers are and what tools they need to run their business. That’s why we have our features forum and make it dead easy to chat to us and tell us what you think. There’s something much more powerful in talking to you face-to-face to hear your challenges and concerns first-hand which is why we’re delighted to be at the show this June.

Automechanika Birmingham will host a number of seminar sessions which give visitors the chance to understand some of the key issues facing our sector. If you’re a small business or even a one-man band, you probably don’t have too many opportunities to attend events where knowledgeable speakers provide valuable insights. Our advice would be to take advantage of what’s on offer; some of the insights could help you tackle current trends and better prepare for what’s on the horizon.

The 50 free seminars cover a range of topics including the changing car market, advanced IT and vehicle connectivity, future drives, staff skills, training and business best practice. The seminars and educational sessions also include a focus on aftermarket technical topics including updates on the MOT, qualifications and certification; the emergence of hybrid and electric vehicles; technology and the retail sector; staff skills and training; and more general business sessions which is particularly useful for garage owners looking to extend their knowledge.

As a show partner, the SMMT will host one of its two annual Open Forums at Birmingham’s opening day which will bring together around 400 delegates for a day of presentations, knowledge sharing and discussion.

Not only does Automechanika Birmingham offer a great opportunity to meet suppliers, gain information on products on the market and enhance technical knowledge and industry understanding, it is also a celebration of our sector. Some of the stats which the event highlights are quite staggering, so if you think of yourself as just a small cog in a much larger wheel, remember that each has to work effectively to ensure the larger one is able to keep going at a formidable pace. Here’s a few we particularly liked:-

  • In 2013 the UK built over 1.6 million vehicles and 2.5 million engines
  • The UK exported over 80% of its total production
  • The UK is the second largest producer of premium cars in the world after Germany
  • More than 40 companies make vehicles here in the UK
  • By 2017 it is expected the UK will be producing 2 million vehicles each year

Whilst these figures are impressive, Automechanika Birmingham will also highlight the opportunities of a £4bn annual shortfall in the automotive supply chain.

The launch of the UK exhibition reflects the show’s success which originated at the Frankfurt Messe and has since expanded to events at 15 international locations, making it the most successful OEM and aftermarket supplier show series globally. More than 10,000 industry professionals are expected to gather over the course of the event so be sure to attend and help keep your business ahead of the game.

We hope to see you there. You will be able to find us at stand 11H12 where we’ll be delighted to walk you through Carvue while you enjoy a cuppa.
